Four months is a long time for anyone doing anything. Most of the world is coping in so many with the pandemic. Some with great success, some moderate, some not much at all. I’m somewhere between the middle and the latter. My state had a good response in the beginning, and it seemed to be under control, then we had a small spike. We also began to test more, as a result, the number of cases grew daily until we were placed into a second round of restrictions.
Anyway, during my first time in lockdown – as I did go back to work for about three months, but now staying at home again for six weeks – I gave thought to the cover of a book I released in late 2018: Spiral. Whilst I was happy at the time, I also felt that it needed a bit more punch. I hunted around to find something that grabbed my attention. There was no urgency to replace the cover, I knew it would happen when it was right. I came up with a design and then let it sit. Having another look, I’m happy with the result.
Here is the result:

Doing this gave rise to what I might do for the second book in that series. The second picture is a concept image for the second book, called Supercar. It relates to V8 racing cars here in Australia. When I was writing the original text, the industry was strong. However, with changes in the motor industry in Australia, some makes of cars will no longer be available. This has changed the racing car landscape. Whilst the real industry has changed, it doesn’t change how I want to portray racing in the fictional world. It’s not so much about the industry, but as a backdrop to what takes place with the characters. Who knows, I may even change the title.

My original plan was to have it ready to go by later this year (2020). We all know how this year has turned out. It will be released as soon as it is ready and when it is time.
For now, I go back to working around the yard whilst I am home alone (temporarily). I will write when I can for as long as the mood and inspiration lasts.
