Indeed it has.
I started writing over thirty years ago. Back then I was writing it more as a hobby; a creative outlet. Over the years, ideas came and went, some unfortunately went somewhere that I could no longer retrieve them. Sigh. Some of them I know were good, I just can’t remember them.
In the late 1980s, I shared my desire to write with a work colleague and they suggested to me that I always carry a pen/pencil and something to write on, so I wouldn’t lose any ideas. that was one of the first bits of invaluable advice I received. That certainly saved a lot of brain matter from dying from overwork trying to remember the good ideas I could no longer remember.
Some time later, in the mid-1990s, I spoke with another work colleague about some frustrations I was having getting my stories to completion. They advise that I should consider sketching an outline of the whole story before trying to actually write it. well, didn’t that just blow the lid off everything. From then on that’s pretty all I do with a story line. I sketch it from go to woe and then go back and flesh it out.
Over the years people have asked how many stories I have written. I usually don’t answer that directly, rather i say that i have a certain number of story ideas on my computer. That still stands true, however, over the years, I have grouped some of those stories together to form series of books.
That’s right, multiples, not just a single series from a handful of books. I have grouped together stories to form at least three different series. Other series have sprung up out of the idea for a single book, but due to the nature of the main character, cannot be contained simply in one book.
I think i will try to keep these relatively short, so if you want to know more, ask and i will respond, within reason.
Hi Grant,
I would love to follow how you progress on your writing journey. Wishing you well.
